This is one of three punch sets I keep on my gun workbench. The tools are high quality and have just the right weight to them. The punches are tooled very well, and I’ve never had an issue with them. The plastic case is very sturdy (unlike some of my other kits) and therefore I actually keep the punches and hammer in the case, as opposed to moving them into a catch all drawer. I’m an amateur smith and appreciate products which make life easier – this is one such product.

I’m not a gunsmith but I needed to punch out a pin holding the firing pin in place on my pistol and didn’t want to use a tool not meant for the task. This kit has more than I will probably ever need but you know the saying – better to have and not need than need and not have. Tools appear to be high quality and come in a sturdy plastic case. My only complain is that some of the punches are a bit hard to remove from their mounts but I suspect this improve with use. If you need a good kit then this is definitely one you should consider.

My old set was missing a few punches here and there from use over the years. My beautiful bride bought me a shop building to do my leather workin and gunsmithin in. I’m pretty sure she did that just to get me to take all of that stuff outta the new ranch house. She never had a problem with me workin leather and gunsmithin in the old house. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, new house came with some new rules. Leather workin and gunsmithin has been tossed out. I can’t complain though since she bought me a nice little cabin that has AC (which is important here in South Texas), a nice bench, and plenty of lights. So since I got me a fancy workshop for leather workin and gunsmithin, I figured I’d get me some new tools as well. This is a good little set for gunsmithin and other small projects.

Been a gun owner for over a decade but would always go to a gunsmith for even little things because I wasn’t confident working on them myself for fear of messing up. Def recommend others to just dive in and buy a few thing such as a sturdy vise, this kit, and a couple of allen wrenches. Now ive build my own AR15’s replaced triggers and sights etc on my pistols and worked on others. Not only do you save $$$, you really gain a deeper insight into how your guns work and function.The punch set/kit is great. Hammer works wonderfully. Punches are all great and durable. Highly recommend to others

I was a bit skeptical buying this because some bad reviews stating the punches bend or break easy an the hammer is cheap quality but I’m glad I ordered it anyways.I needed a set to take apart my sccy cpx 2 an this set did the job great no issues I did get a slight bend in one of the small steel punches but that was more my fault I’m sure because I got it stuck in a frame pin hole, tapped it in a tad to far and had to pull an twist an hammer it out backwards but it still works great. Ive used it since than an it hasn’t bent anymore so I’d say it’s a pretty strong little punch. so far I’ve used this set to hammer out pins on a couple firearms and replace a clutch arm on a 300ex 4 wheeler. I also love that it comes in a hard case to keep everything nice and handy and organized. it is hard to get some of the punches in an out of there spots, it’s a tight fit, but I’d rather have it be to tight then to loose an falling out or rattling an it’ll probably loosen up a bit from use.

Decent set for the money, the hammer is a little undersized but I guess it has to be in order to fit in the case. I shattered the nylon face through my own incompetence because I was using it to wail on a wrench trying to break a bolt loose. I tried to find a replacement face but could not find one on Amazon small enough. I called Wheeler and they sent me an entire new hammer no charge. Only issue is that the hammer they sent me is the not the one from the set to it is too large to fit in the case, but hey, its free. Great customer service!

So I got this primarily to use on my firearms but have also used it on trying to punch out a rusty cotter pin out of a ball joint. I have not had any problems with the punches I’ve used bending… maybe because I know how much force I need to use? Gents, don’t bash them hard.. They are meant to take taps from the provided hammer not hard. Blows. If you’re having problems trying to push something out, squirt some penetrating oil. The brass, especially, is not meant to take heavy hits. It’s purpose is to give so you don’t end up marring what you’re punching.All in all, it’s a good set for a good price.

This hammer and punch set is a must have for gunsmithing. All sizes needed for various tasks in gunsmitting are included in brass, and if you have a need for something a little tougher there is the steel punches included to get those jobs done. The included hammer is very handy with it’s double sides. The nylon side is for essentially guaranteed damage avoidance. The brass side is non-maring to most surfaces but has the hardness needed for strikings smaller surfaces or sharp edges that the nylon may take damage from. I’ve used this kit to build several AR-15 lowers and the brass makes it so much easier to do without so easily scratching your new gun’s frame. The carrying case is built well and has places to securely hold the various pieces included in the kit, although I do find that the latches are a bit tough to open – this is both good and bad. Good because it securely keeps the tools inside and bad because it sometimes takes a pry tool to open.

I know we all can go out and buy a hammer and a punch at the hardware store, right? Sometimes we fall into a small hammer we really like as well. We have all done this from time to time. But I found this to be a one stop solution for me. Sure, there is always that one small hammer in the bottom of the toolbox that you like to use on this or that. But overall, it’s pretty handy.
