I’ll be honest… this is not to teach our teen to be a better driver. This is to “trust but verify” what he tells us. This unit was so amazingly simple to install (in secret, of course), and is tucked nicely under the dashboard so it can’t be seen. This may just be the design of the car we tagged, and we’re sure the location of the port is different in different cars.As a junior license holder, our teen can’t drive between 9 pm and 5 am, and we long suspected he wasn’t telling us everything when he stayed at a friend’s house overnight. Within 24 hours of installing this unit, we knew the truth. We also saw that he drove at 83 (!!!) MPH on the 65-MPH highway. And that he uses the brakes badly. This unit works better than our wildest dreams.

So a week after my 16 year old got his licence, a parent told us said 16 year old was doing 80 while on the way to a school function. Needless to say, three days later, this little dohickey was purchased and installed. It’s great. It gives us a map of his route, his speeds, whether he braked hard or not, even how long the car idles. I do feel that the speed limits are not always correct but I can overlook that. I know things like that change quite frequently. Anyway, it’s a great little dohickey that I highly recommend!

My son is 16 yo and just got his license! His dad and I are a nervous wreck. I started researching these devices a few months ago and decided MOTOSafety was the one I wanted to go with! His dad was a bit on the fence at first, he didn’t want us to invade our sons privacy, but we finally agreed this is best and it’s more for our sons safety than anything else. I tried this out on my car for a month first. I was super impressed! I was purposely driving badly just to see if it would pickup my mistakes and it did, in great detail! It showed when the incident happened and pinpointed exactly where on the map. My son recently got his own vehicle a month or so ago, I was honest and let him know this device was in the vehicle. I’m not sure he knows exactly what it does or how much it shows, but he knows a monitoring device is in his car. It will be in there until he is on his own insurance policy. Anyways, this device gives us peace of mind. We know where he is and how he is driving. I get a detailed report emailed to me every day, and I can also check it in real time. It is definitely worth the $20 per month. I would encourage any new teen driver parents to get this for their teenagers car.

The best part about this is no contract since my teen won’t need it for ever, it’s a snap to install, and either the app or the website work great with this little guy.I was worried the GPS portion wouldn’t work very well since the device is tucked way up under the dash. It seems to do well enough for the reasons I purchased it.I’ve added a bunch of “Landmarks” that my son normally frequents, set up a couple different “Geofences” for the times he’s only supposed to go to school and back (one that uses the freeway for nice weather, and one that uses the surface streets for slippery or snowy weather). The drawbacks, or things I haven’t figured out how to do yet; are how to share the live info with my ex-wife with out giving her access to my account (other than adding her to the contacts when my son breaks a rule we’ve set). A second drawback is that I normally have an OBDII bluetooth devcie installed that allows us to use our cell phones as an extended dash with speed, boost pressure, temps, etc etc.. I ordered a Y-Cable to see if that’ll work.Overall, I think this will help him be concious of his driving until his habits are formed/developed.

Watch what car you use it on! I used it on my son’s 2012 Nissan Sentra, and it tripped about every code on the OBD, making the check engine light stay on. At first customer service was great, and even offered me a $100 Amazon gift card for to work with the company to get the device updated. Of course I agreed, and I’ve yet to get my $100 gift card. I even played email and phone tag with the technician, till I finally gave up :( Update 11-18-17. Thank you MOTOsafety!! This company contacted me, and they do care about their customers! The tracker does work for what I need the most, watching my son’s speed as he drives. Even though we had issues at first, it has been resolved, and as promised, I’m updating my initial review. 5 stars for customer service, satisfaction, and the product itself! Would I buy it again if needed? Absolutely YES!

Bought for my 80 yr old father, good to know where he is at, especially since he seldom carries his cell phone. Just be sure you check where the OBDII port is located on your car to make sure there is room for this device. On a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe, it stuck down nearly 2” in front of the brake pedal where it could be easily kicked entering or exiting the car, so I had to buy a 90 degree OBDII cord that allowed me to install it more remotely.

Easy to set up. After you drive around simply close the app on your phone and reopen it and you will see your location and driving stats. Has a feature that lets you know if the unit was tampered with. (if removed from OBD port)Unit tells you exact route. Speeds, hard stopping, hard Accelerator action, and gives you a grade.

I have 5 service trucks that I have purchased these for and they have already paid for themselves. Guys are putting in their time and not taking out for lunch breaks or extra personal stops. Now i know when and where and how long. Only problem I have had is with the map itself that they use. Most of the time it is pretty accurate, but on one section of our town the map will show SW instead of NW where the pin is actually at. Not a problem for me though .

I used it for a couple months, then turned it off. Several months later I went to login and turn it back on my account had been deleted. I no longer had an activation code so I could not reregister it. They (Tech Support) said they could turn it back on and put it on the same card but could not tell me which one that would be and a couple days later closed my ticket. I needed the ability to tur it on or off when I wanted to and bill it to the card of my choice. So I threw it in the trash and had to buy a new one from a different company

I used this item to track my car when I shipped it across country. Worked like a charm. I was able to confirm that the shipper did not use my vehicle as “local transport” as so many horror stories say. I also installed one in my aging mother’s car to see where she was going after several trips where she got lost. I never tried the geofencing option but I intend to look into that soon.
