Extremely happy with these speakers. Spent a lot of time researching and almost pulled the trigger on KEF/Klipsch because I had the budget and thought the aesthetics were better. The ELACs look a lot better in the flesh than in marketing/catalogue images and I like the old school look. Living in an apartment the front porting is important and I have these flush against the wall. Paired them with a new Yamaha WXA-50 and this combination is working very nicely for me. Had planned on a small subwoofer but am so far enjoying these organically. If I had a sub I would cross it pretty low and let the ELACs do most of the heavy lifting. Glad I went for the 5.2 and not the 6.2 as the sound rocks without the need for more space. Spent a few dollars on custom Oakwood stands. Sound is awesome, bass is solid and I would happily recommend these little beauties. Put the money you saved to better use.

This was my second order of ELAC B5.2 speakers completing a set of 4 to use them as surrounds.Build on these is solid and they “feel” like speakers far out of their price range. Sounds is exactly as expected – very clear quality and plenty of volume. I don’t listen at high levels but do play video games where surround sound can be critical and, with the right level adjustments for distance from listening position, these speakers do their job perfectly. If you’re looking for stands to go with them, they pair very well with the Sanus Steel Foundation – get whatever height of stand will put the speakers at ear level in your listening position. A little blu-tak in the corners holds then down nicely.Overall, very pleased with these speakers at this price.

These were purchased to replace a pair of Polk RTi4 bookshelf speakers that were too bright for my taste. I am powering these with a Yamaha RX-383 5.1 surround receiver. I was hoping for a substantial improvement in overall sound quality and clarity and these did not disappoint.Positives: Compared to the Polk speakers these Elac bookshelves are clearer with much better separation, better bass and mid range. The highs are clear but never too bright especially compared to the Polks which caused physical pain from the high frequency sounds when the volume was turned up.Negatives: The only possible negative that I have encountered so far is that these are less efficient than the Polk speakers and require more power to get a similar volume. This is not a problem unless you have an a very low power amplifier.

I want to preface this by noting that I paid <$250 for my pair. Currently, they are listing for $300+ and you have TONS of options in that price range.Overall, I love these little beauties. I currently live in a small apartment and needed something appropriate for the space. These fit the bill. Not sure I'd call 'em bright, but I do have the bass on my chi-fi amp turned up a smidge to warm them up. There can be a clinical aspect to the sound sometimes, I won't deny that. But at the price I paid, and given the rock-solid build quality, these are great. I may replace them with some wharfedales at some point, partially just to try something else, maybe see if I can't warm things up. Can't stress the source enough; playing mp3's through the bluetooth is fine but cranking some Floyd via CD really wakes up these pups. They are rockers and would pair well with a sub, I'd think.I should stress that these are currently driven with a cheap class D Fosi amp. I'd love to hear them through a quality class a/b amp, I just don't have the space.

Great frequency response, good output. I use them as recording monitors. They are “flat” in the top end, and I tend to liek things a little softer in the top end, so I arbitrarily roll off the top end from 10khz at 0, to down 3db at 20khz. A very small change that for me, usually makes speakers less bright. I had the Pioneer SP-BS41-LR, also designed by Jones, for years. I would characterize these (by flawed human dead reckoning) as more accurate, and probably they have less distortion over all. The stereo field (again guessing) seems more distinct than my Pioneer SP-BS41-LR speakers – which I’ve loved all these years.

Very detailed speakers for the money. Only just received, but impressed out of the box. I am using a Yamaha R-N303 2 channel receiver, a Marantz TT42 Turntable.. I am also using Tidal Hifi Music service through BT.. still in break in. There are in a 10X10 room and are way more powerful then I thought. I prefer their sound on the Marantz.. some songs on Tidal Hifi do sound amazing, others are quite bright. I have a small Vizio center and sub and the base from these on a few songs I thought the sub was also on! It wasn’t, very impressed. These could be front driving speakers without an issue for most size home rooms. I never heard the initial Debut series, which I heard are more warm and more forgiving. If I would nit pick and it’s not the fault of the speakers, rather the testament to their detail and precision is it brings out many flaws in the recordings, vs many sub par systems hiding such… still can’t believe the price in 2018! Well done Andrew Jones (once again helping to bring HiFi back for us peasants :) and ELAC!

I’ve had the Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 for a couple of weeks now. My ears are attached to a 60 plus body and there’s “unclearly” :) been some audio spectrum attenuation. I’ve had a Yamaha YAS-107 soundbar connected to my TV for a couple of years so to a certain extent, this is a comparison to the soundbar. The Elac’s sound very good in overall comparison, but the soundbar is better with higher frequencies and voice. Its signal processing excels at that. I tried running the TV audio through my Denon AVR-S750H and the Elac’s but I easily prefer the soundbar for basic TV watching. It’s much cleaner, more spacious sound. If I stream music through the TV and AVR, then the Elac’s are much better.I had intentions of setting aside the soundbar and using the AVR with Elac’s for both TV and music, but I decided for now to leave the soundbar connected to the TV, and use the AVR for music streaming. I bought a HDMI switch so I can switch back and forth easily between TV/soundbar and TV/AVR/Elac’s, or use the AVR/Elac’s discretely for music. It seems to be the best solution for me at the moment. I am curious what a good 3.1soundbar sounds like in comparison. All in all, I don’t regret the Elac purchase. For their size, they sound very nice.

I purchased these ELAC Debut 2.0 B5.2 Bookshelf Speakers over a month ago, so there has been time for them to break in. I started them with an old Pioneer VSX-502 that died soon after I purchased these speakers. The sound with that receiver was good but really didn’t give credence to the speakers. I soon upgraded (updated) to the Onkyo TX-SR373 5.2 receiver. The speakers came to life and became quite musical. I am no audiophile, but the speakers sound clear and crisp. My only reference has been my old Polk RT55i/RT35i speakers which were smooth, warm and detailed. The ELACs are quite detailed in the highs. They are clean and not as forgiving with MP3 or Spotify “normal” download in the lack of detail. They are also great in their lower frequency extension for 5.25″ speakers. Can’t measure how low, but they don’t struggle with lower midbass. It was a gamble purchasing them without hearing them. They are worth the money. One complaint though, they are quite large for bookshelf application. The cabinet shape and finish is quite bland. I suppose the sound quality makes up for these short comings.

These speakers blew me away and that’s coming from a lot of high-end stuff. These I ordered as a replacement for damaged Klipsch speakers that were broken in a move so I needed a cheap replacement for the bedroom. These fit the bill and Elac 6.2’s had a lot of good reviews. These sound just as good, they give up a tiny bit of low end to the 6’s but otherwise they are very good. The front port design covers a wide range of frequencies and is forgiving of placement and allows placement near walls or corners easier. These are how speakers SHOULD sound, just perfect.

For audiophiles, this is a “budget” entry. For average folks, they’ll seem pricey. All i can say is they are worth it. After buying a HTIB system that i was trying to keep on a budget, i found the speakers that came with it (Yamaha YHT-4930UBL system) were kind of thin, especially the center. Tried replacing the center with a Pioneer SP-C22, but while much improved it still was too bright on the high end (crunchy sound). Read a lot about these speakers and the matching center speaker from the same series. While I didn’t want to spend this kind of money on speakers for a budget build in an off gaming/media room, i quickly found they were worth every penny. Avengers: Infinity War in 4K sounded amazing. The matching center to this series (separate purchase) had terrific clarity without being too much treble, very warm sound. These bookcase speakers used as fronts and surround had amazing depth and clarity. The balance in the sound was unbelievable. No overwhelming base or treble. Just awesome surround and sound presence. If you’re like me, not an audiophile, but wanting to build on a budget, it may feel like these are outside the pricing of “budget build”. It’s worth the investment though if you want a good pair of speakers that can help you make a “set it and forget it” build that won’t have you constantly fiddling with the sound settings when switching between different content.
