I never thought I would spend more than $300 on a piece of audio equipment but here I am spending $400 and 100% satisfied. From the sound, to the build quality and even the unboxing experience. These are extremely high quality. I would know quality when I see it because I went through several other powered bookshelf speakers prior to landing here and let’s just say they weren’t very good.

I’ve been considering a set of Edifiers for some time now. When this new model S2000MKIII was released, I waited for a few reviews to post, then took the plunge. Just wow. Don’t hesitate, make the purchase. Like others have stated, you’re going to notice some new detail in music you’ve listened to for years. Worth every penny. I can’t believe the audio quality coming from these speakers at this price.

I don’t write reviews often. I also have a much more expensive and significantly “bigger” home theater sound system complete with giant sub woofers, floor speakers, atmos speakers, etc. I bought these as a simple set of computer speakers thinking they’d do the job.Boy was I wrong. I don’t like these speakers. I love them. They have completely revitalized my love for music in a way I didn’t know was possible.Sure they don’t rip my face off with bass, but… I’m hearing sounds and frequencies in songs I’ve never heard before. I really hope this isn’t my descent into audiophile madness, because those people can be wackos, and I’m sure they’d look down on these speakers because you don’t have to pour beeswax into them or mount them on NASA grade ceramic tiles or anything, but I feel like as an entry point into that scene, I get it now.I am sitting here just listening to tunes. That’s it. I mean I guess I’m writing this review, but it’s only because the hair on my arms stood on end and I was moved enough to feel that other people need to experience this. Forget logitech, razer, or whatever other mainstream computer speaker setups go for about this same price.Buy these. No really. Buy them.Beatuiful.Well made.Sound: on point.Incredible value for money. Will make your audiophile friend scoff who spent $14000 on their tube amplified, hand assembled by blind Russian children, completely unknown but “super premium” brand phono-only setup, but that’s part of the joy.I genuinely believe these sound as good, or better, than setups that cost way way more than these do.Buy them.

I began this journey looking for good speakers for video editing. I’m not a sound master guy but I want things at a good place for hand-off for mixing. Typically I’d be at the studio but with covid, I’ve been WFH. As these would occasionally serve as personal speakers, the aesthetic was also very important.I started really high-end then went really low, trying to get as close to the sound quality I heard from high-end speakers, without spending $800+ per speaker. The Edifier S2000MK3 hits the sweet spot in the pocket (below $500) but sounds (and looks) like speakers worth 5X as much. I would have gladly paid much more for these. Honestly I’m looking to see where I can put another set. They’re that good. Now on to the more audiophile-y stuff. Not spec talk or technical mumbo jumbo as a lot of that’s out there (plus I’ll come off pretentious and you’ll hate me. Honestly, I’d rather describe the listening experience anyway ;-).First off, the soundstage is incredible. And for those not familiar with the term, it simply means the presence of the sound in the room. The Edifier S2000MK3 fills the space with full, epic sound that’s sweet and serious to the ear. You’ll find yourself discovering parts of favorite songs you never knew existed. Matter of fact you’ll spend your first few days revisiting old favorites, just to hear how they sound through these speakers. And the features are enough. 2 RCA inputs means my macbook pro and synth/sequencer don’t have to fight for a cable. Optical just in case I want to run this through a tv one day. Bluetooth is easy and strong. I don’t rely on it for editing even though the lag is barely there. I didn’t notice a quality drop when listening via bluetooth, however if you listen intently at certain volumes, you’ll pick up on very slight distortion/static. It’s not there consistently but depending on the song, it may pop up a few times. All this to say that 95% of people will not notice this. This is me being extremely nitpicky, as there were no cons outside of that. The bass is very responsive. Tight and crisp. It can boom, but that’s in Dynamic mode(or with bass dial turned up). I usually have it in Monitor mode, even when listening to personal music. I find this truer sound representation more enjoyable. When I’m at my desk sitting center, the sound feels like it’s coming at you from dead center, whilst giving you the ability to pick out sounds that travel from right to left and vice versa. It will be love at first sight when you open the box. The speakers are heavy. The materials, premium. I don’t fiddle in the back much but when I do it’s a pleasant surprise how first-class the knobs look and feel.Trust me on this one. There’s a reason these have a 5 star rating(as of this write-up). Do it. Just order it now. Don’t hesitate. You’ve found it. This is the one.

At $399, these edifiers are a steal as they go head to head with the Swan m200 mkiii+. I have tested these in my living room and currently they are serving desk duty, they are impressive in both scenarios. Compared to the Swans, I would say they have better low end extension without getting boomy or muddy. I personally enjoy the warm sound signature they have and am now planning on using them as my daily driver (replacing the m200’s). If you are planning on using them at a desk, make sure to keep the remote handy, as there are no front controls. The last thing I will note, is that unlike many powered speakers, the Edifiers are virtually silent when no audio is being run through them and are cool to the touch after hours of use. Overall these speakers are winners and a very good value for the money.

Ok, I always feel a little guilty when not writing a review on a product I’ve purchased that I’m happy with, or even when unhappy. I’m BIG on reviews, and appreciate the people who have taken time to write one. That said, I reviewed, reviewed, and reviewed some more on book shelf speakers. I’m a music lover of ALL types, and take this stuff seriously. I’m willing to pay the price for quality stereo equipment, both auto and home. I’ve owned many of the greats (Bose, Klipsch, etc), and still do. I purchased the ‘non-bluetooth’ Edifer’s for my daughter as a house warming gift. She loves music as well, and for 99 bucks I felt good about my purchase after reading all the reviews. Ultimately, they work perfectly for her. So, after that experience, I looked into an upgraded set for myself, w/Bluetooth etc. After many hours of dragging my feet; I’m a bit of a tight a$$ and the 399 price tag had me skeptical they were too good to be true i wouldn’t need a sub to fill in the lows… well, DON’T drag your feet people! They’re worth the extra money in EVERY way. They arrived early, they were packaged with care in mind, and here’s the good parts, they look GREAT, and sounds AMAZING. Hell, they even SMELL good! Ok ok, they’re not going to hit the ‘low lows’, but geesh.. . what do you expect out of a 6″ dome man?! They’re bookshelf’s!! And honestly, most people assume I MUST have a sub tucked away somewhere to get the sound they’re hearing. Without rambling, these speakers will not disappoint. Any music genre, at any volume, these speakers are the ones. New loyal Edifier customer here.

The media could not be loaded.  These things can get LOUD! They don’t sound muddy when cranked up though. I really enjoy how easy they are to connect to my record player, TV, phone, etc. For powered speakers these are a great bang for your buck. I really enjoy the remote and LCD screen on the speakers. Plus the wood grain is beautiful in person. No complaints here.

Utterly amazing that these speakers sell this cheaply. That’s probably a situation that will be corrected at some point, so get them while you can at this price.First of all, these speakers are ridiculously heavy. They are a beast. I replaced a a pair of larger Klipsch speakers with these and these easily weigh twice as much. Obviously weight doesn’t necessarily translate into audio quality, but in this case it does. My Klipsch were fantastic bookshelf speakers (non-powered, amp died so I tried these Edifiers in their place), but the audio from these Edifier speakers is nothing short of stunning. The dynamic range, stereo separation, and whatever other metrics audiophiles use must be in play here because the clarity and impact of the music is much more akin to headphones than bookshelf speakers. There is just no way that you’ll be remotely disappointed in the sound of these speakers. I challenge you! They also come with some nice goodies like a stylish, very functional remote and optical cable (handy for connecting to my DAC). The audio modes (Studio, Dynamic, Classic, and Vocal) offer minimal yet effective tonal changes, as do the Bass and Treble controls on the back of the speakers. If your someone that feels the need to significantly change/shape the frequency response of your speakers, you may want to consider a equalizer or other tonal device (e.g. Schiit Loki Mini Tone Control Equalizer) between your audio source and the speakers. The speakers have a nice digital display on the front of the main speaker confirming operation of the remote and showing you what input your on (Optical, Line 1, Line 2, or Bluetooth), the volume level, etc. The display, like the rest of the speaker is design is well done – it’s clean, not too bright or distracting, etc.I can’t testify as to the durability/longevity of these S2000MKIII speakers as I’ve literally only been using them for a few hours.

Bose makes great products, no question, but these are at par with Bose in may ways for less money. I hunted for Bluetooth amplified speakers to use with my Bluetooth devices in my workshop, on the deck, or wherever I wanted to use them. My criteria was excellent performance at all volume levels. I play them more often at low volume and you just don’t get good full-range sound out of many speakers at low volume, these do. Deep rich base with clear and balanced mid and upper response. I did crank them, once, to drown out loud noise and they performed very well. You could feel the bass reverberate through your body. I didn’t take them to maximum volume, just as high as I needed to but it reminded me of a concert I attended some time ago. A joy to listen to at any volume.

Just arrived yesterday and after 1 day:Had high hopes for these and they do not disappoint! Incredibly easy to set up. Solid construction – these are heavy. Sound stage is great. Crisp highs, range of lows from the driver is truly impressive. Detailed, true to life presentation. Maybe a little on the bright side, but obviously dependent on the mix and quality of the recording. Personally I am looking for brighter sound with highs further forward and lows further back, and these are near perfect for me. Used my wife’s Galaxy to test aptx bluetooth and there was an obvious improvement in sound quality while streaming- to the point where I don’t think many people, myself included, could tell the difference between aptx and analogue. Bottom line these sound really, really good. Loud enough to fill a medium size room easily with no degradation as higher volumes. I am by no means an expert but I would be surprised if there is a clearly better value available in this range. I will update this if necessary but initial impressions leave me highly satisfied!Update – a few weeks later and I have the speakers set up on Rockville wood/black stands with all the wires to my whole set up discreetly hidden away and some nice decorative lights…man I am stoked. A great home project for quarantine! Been playing music pretty much non-stop, going through classic recordings and favorites and hearing new details on everything. Not much to expound upon other than to say I have been pushing the upper boundaries of the volume setting and luckily these speakers hold up extremely well at the limits with no appreciable degradation to sound detail or quality. Super easy to set up and use and they just sound brilliant to my ears. Very good on the lows and separation between all ranges. I am not a super bass head and actually used the eq knob on the back to turn the bass down and it is still plenty. I have no qualms stacking these against much higher priced offerings. Only nits to pick are that the display is small and the control is hard to read in low light, but there aren’t a ton of buttons and pretty easy to remember which ones are where.I simply could not justify the s3000 in the small space of my current apartment, but I will have a keen eye on those should I ever need way more output. Again, highly satisfied and lives up to the reviews and sound comparisons online.
