We have two cats. One is a digger/over eater. The other is a chaser/grazer. The grazer was driving me insane with wanting to eat two bites twenty times a day, and the digger was wolfing down her food and puking all over the place. So, we got this for our digger, and the Petsafe Slimcat ball for our grazer. LOVE THEM both. It took about a week for the cats to get used to getting their meals this way, but they each have their own thing, and the grazer doesn’t harass me in my own home anymore. She can feed herself. The really amazing thing is that the digger is not interested in the ball, and the grazer is not really interested in this. The digger has mastered getting food out of this fast, but not as fast as she was eating before. She did puke a few times at first (in anticipation of food) but that seems to have stopped. I highly recommend this product to slow down a cat, and make them work for their food.

Some mornings, my fat cat freaks out and assumes I’m leaving him to waste away without food because I dare to sleep in, like, an additional ten minutes because I’m a monster who wants to deny him health and sustenance Anyway, when that happens, if I put all the food in one place, he will hoarf half of it down and then promptly vomit it all over the place about ten minutes later. Since this is the same cat that has caused me to spent upward of 3K in surgeries to keep him alive and he’s now on very expensive prescription cat food, seeing a good amount of cat food wasted isn’t my idea of a great time.(My other cat, bless her heart, tolerates this with the impatience of a doting mother. She snuggles with him and cleans him.)Anyway, I got this to help slow my larger cat down and boy does it do that – but also entertains him. He spends time digging around and looks victorious every time he gets a bit of food and THANKFULLY he also has to pause between eats which means he doesn’t vomit within thirty minutes. So – thanks, this thing, for doing that.

The media could not be loaded.  This is perfect for my boy. He loves feeding himself anyway. He would rather have the food on the floor or in a scooper so he can get it himself.I saw this for sale and had to buy it…he loves it and cries when the cups are empty…he’s had it for three days. I called him over, dropped some food in the cups and told him to scoop the food out. Zero learning cure. A quick sniff then all hands in.Great idea, well made.

Our cats loved this feeder from day one. They had just turned 2 at the time, rescue Maine Coon/Persian mix sisters who were spayed at 6 weeks (way too early!) and we had been looking for something to prevent them from becoming bored and too fat (as early spay causes). They went from chowing down and then puking up food 3X a week to never! The various wells give them a modicum of choice regardless of the similarity of food (they are cats, you know!) and one of them gets a little messy and pulls out too much- but the other comes in and cleans up– and then digs out some of her own chow. This feeder works well for both cats and there is no need to give them separate feeders. On occasion when the feeder has been washed and my kids have not put it back in time, the cats will very vocally alert me. They LOVE the CatIt!We normally use Blue Buffalo Indoor mix, and add in another grain-free healthy food that has larger pieces. We found that they like the different-sized pieces and eat less. They are still big cats, but less belly fat and more active for indoor cats now. :)I would advise to buy this for indoor cats who are: in need of weight-loss, rescue/feral cats, in need of stimulation.

This is the perfect answer to a cat that is prone to eating just because she happened to walk past food or just one who is so energetic that everything in life must be a game (either could describe out cat). Our cat enjoys hunting her food, which means attacking the bowl and then eating the scattered kibbles. It becomes a big mess fast. This really helped a lot. She loves to pull out a paw full of kibbles and eat it from her paw. Most of what she doesn’t catch lands on the white portion which is sloped to catch it like a little bowl. She either eats it from there or if it is a large amount I put it back in the cups at some point. Some does end up on the grey mat and occasionally on the floor but as you can see from the before and after photos it is quite the improvement. Clean up is a breeze! The cups each come out for easy washing.

The media could not be loaded.  I have a cat that vomits in the mornings from eating too fast. She figured out how this feeder worked right away. At first, I didn’t know how it worked, so I filled all the tubes up to the top, I thought the feeder would confound her. She immediately emptied the cups, then vomited. So I have to feed her a small amount, divided between the cups, and that solved her morning problems. The green tubes have closed rounded bottoms, so her claws don’t snag, and the white base is smoothly contoured to catch the food when she fishes some out. There is a rubber mat that comes with it, that I suppose is to hold the feeder in place. I am including a video so that you can see how it works.

Let me be clear, I love this but my cats hate it with a fiery passion. I got it because one of my cats is overweight and the other eats so fast he pukes every time due to a sensitive stomach, I’ve tried other methods and i’ve looked into other devices like this, but this one stood out because my cats love to smack things around and dig.I actually feed them using this instead of bowls now, but when I first set this up…. they had no idea how to cat properly. I’ve seen them do the digging motion several thousand times so I knew they were physically capable, they were just being jerks. They screamed for a day as if we had neglected to feed them for a week. I ended up removing the green cups on day 2, which make its a little easier and a little more obvious for any of the more “special” cats in your midst. They still screamed like banshees, convinced we were starving them to death. I put catnip flavored treats in the holes to entice them, yet they still refused to prove to me they could competently use the thing. I was quickly losing my resolve and had to be stopped from feeding them in a normal way and giving in to their terrorist demands. Finally, when no one was around, peeking around a corner, I watched them actually 100% use it. Did they continue to scream at me like they were starving? Yes, but that’s because they’re fat spoiled jerks. Do they stop immediately if they notice you are watching? Absolutely. But at the end of the day, I don’t actually have to feed them a million times a day to prevent one from puking, and the fat one is too lazy to overeat now because now food = work. We’re currently slowly adding the green cups back in because apparently learning is hard, but we’re on the right track.10/10 No more cat puking, but I give my cats a 2/10 for being lazy entitled jerks.

Life hasn’t been much fun for my cat Edward since last year, when the vet confirmed that he is completely blind. So no more fun with feather wands or mousey fish poles, and he’s never been much for catnip. But he loves food. I thought this item would be a great toy for him, since it relies on smell and touch. Sure enough, he loves it! And he got the hang of it very quickly, which is something worth mentioning, since he is old and a little senile. The photos were taken as Edward discovered the Digger for the first time. I tried it first without the green tubes so that Edward would get the idea–then, each day I added another green tube, and now life is a blast at treat time every morning and evening. It’s worked out so well that I just ordered the Catit Senses Food Tree to give Edward more of a challenge. He is not the type of cat who bolts his food, he just needs something interesting to do, and the Catit Digger certainly brightens his day!

I’ve had my eye on this for a while, and I’m so glad I finally got it. It is well made, and even though it is a simple concept, it is great enrichment for my kitty. I can see how much he enjoys the stimulation of “digging out” and “catching” his treats like prey, and it’s rather entertaining to watch. I do have to keep an eye out for the dog, who has grown to appreciate this toy as well, because she sits next to the cat while he retrieves the treats, then jumps in and steals them after he does all the work! Finally a little warning… be prepared for the consequences of your kitty realizing how many fantastic new things he can do and get into with his newfound dexterity. I have seen kitty dip his paw into my glass of kombucha to try to catch the bubbles, laid in bed and listened to him empty the entire change dish one coin at a time, and found him running away with a mouth full of multicolored pipe cleaners after he dug them out of the craft box and opened the package. So this is absolutely a 5-star toy that we love and highly recommend, just be aware that kitty may use this training for evil when they realize they can use their hands to make messes and rob you blind. :)

The media could not be loaded. My cat is a bit on the smaller side and I always worry about her eating since she’s such a small cat. She’s about 8-9 pounds, still very teenager-looking and I can lift her up in one hand. She usually only plays with the food in a traditional bowl and eats slightly more out of her cat carrier dish we use for travel. She was already displaying ‘food dig Syndrome’ as my family calls it as she loved to put her paws in and hook food out already. I figured I would buy this and if she didn’t liked it, I would pass it along to a few felines I know. Within minutes of filling up the digger and placing it on my back porch, I could tell she loved it.I would say Arry gives this product two paws up and a purr for outstanding creativity.Hope this helps!Remember! Every Cat is different!
