We bought these during the winter so we haven’t installed them yet. They look just like the real ones they sell at Sam’s Club. Good luck on the thief being able to tell the difference. The bad thing is they only allowed us to buy 3. We wanted 4 but that’s okay we will deal with the 3 we got.

We have a set of 4 of the real cameras and purchased 2 imitation cameras to supplement that were placed in some fairly easy to spot locations. These look identical to the real ones and with the wires there is no difference, well of course unless you view them at night and note there are no red lights in these. However for the money and the deterrent we were looking for, we are very pleased.

Comes in surprisingly professional packaging and includes 4 window stickers too! All the mounting hardware is included and looks just like my real ones. I used this one to put in plain view to act as a deterrent so that if a criminal wants to damage this one, that’s fine by me. Bought on Amazon for $13 but saw on Fry’s electronics ad today for $14 with $4 instant savings and $5 mail in rebate!

These dummy cameras do exactly what they’re supposed to do. They look like their real counterpart in every way. I ended up having to deliver the bad news to my installer that he’d put this dummy camera in a location designated for the live one. These are great to save some money installing in difficult to wire areas or places where you want some kind of deterrent but don’t have an extra camera to install.

A couple of years back, I bought a fake camera that, when it arrived, looked completely unreal and cheap. That certainly defeats the purpose! This one from Swann doesn’t look fake; it looks like a real camera from a real manufacturer of security cameras. If you look carefully enough, the components aren’t lined up perfectly inside. But that is from a foot away. Screwed on below the eve of my house, it looks very real. I honestly don’t think you can do better buying a fake (oops, “imitation”) camera.

This dummy camera is identical in appearance to the real Swann camera. Metal construction should last a long time.

These cameras are the real deal! The actual case is made out of strong, durable metal housing. I believe that these could be the actual cameras without the real “guts”. Highly recommend these as these look more realistic than the other, cheaply, looking plastic ones. Real cameras don’t have the “blinking” lights. Easy to install, however, my only comment is that the mounting screws seem a bit long for the application.

Looks exactly like the real thing. I purchased this “dummy” for a person who wanted the look of another real camera in a place that wasn’t feasible to install an actual camera. Looks very realistic. The only thing that could make it better is if there was a way to power the imitation IR LED’s at night time…

Looks like the real thing. Drill a hole in the back and feed a fake wire through if you want it to look even more real
Young NYer 10 –
I installed these throughout my home and they look like the real thing. They even come with the audio/video cables attached to the camera. What I did was drill a hole in the mounting plate where it gets screwed to the house, cut the connectors off the ends and ran the wire through the hole. Make sure you tie a couple of knots on the wire so if someone tries to pull the wire out and tug on it, it wont and they will think that it is actually a wire being used to power the camera and record. Then you can tuck the wires behind the mounting plate, screw it to the house and your done.I will probably buy more as amazon was sold out. Couple these with a few camera signs and motion lights and you should have some added security to your property. In my honest opinion, unless you are monitering cameras 24/7, and can alert authorities if there is a break in, cameras are useless. The burglar can be in and out by the time your camera sends you a motion alert, you receive it, alert the cops and they arrive. A good 15-20 minutes can pass in that whole process. Now you got robbed and all you have is a photo of the burgler and now the cops have to count on him robbing the neighborhood again, catch him and be able to identify him.
