We have an outdoor dog that is absolutely covered in fleas nearly year round, since we don’t get hard freezes here in North Carolina. We’ve tried Frontline, Capstar, Program, Advantage, flea collars, flea shampoos, spraying fipronil in the area around the barn where he lives, diatomaceous earth, brewers yeast and garlic, cedar oil and cedar chip bedding, and nothing worked. We even used corn oil to coat and suffocate the fleas, which worked but only for a day or two. I was convinced that these are zombie fleas and immortal. And the poor dog was miserable and scratching.I hesitated to pay $50 for a flea collar that might not work, but took the chance and ordered this Seresto collar. We put it on the dog two days ago, and I’m amazed! The first day, we noticed that the fleas on the front half of his body were gone. Today we didn’t find one single live flea on him, nostrils to tail tip. We did notice some dead ones on him. This is the first thing we’ve ever found that got rid of/killed the fleas! He was lying happily in the sun this morning, not scratching or twitching, for the first time in months.Since the collar worked, I’ve also ordered one for our little indoor dog and the indoor cat, who also have fleas (but not as many). If these collars really kill the fleas for 6-8 months, they are worth every penny of the cost. I will update my review after a few months, to report whether or not the flea killing effect lasted. I’ll also keep an eye out for irritation, baldness or oozing sores where the collar lies (since some pets have had an adverse reaction to collar) and report that here if it happens. For now, I’m very, very happy to have something to help combat the fleas!———Edited 6 June 2017: It’s only been a few weeks but I wanted to update. No fleas on the pets – if they pick one up in the grass it hops off without biting. The small dog was a little lethargic for a day or so (just acted tired and didn’t want to play – he was still eating) after we put on his collar, but we kept a close eye on him and he was back to himself on the third day. No rawness, sores or extreme symptoms from any of the pets. I also set off some Hot Shot flea fogger/bombs in our carpeted bedrooms, where we had fleas (the pets sleep with us). Between the collars and the bombs, we are finally, at long last, flea free! I’ll update again at the end of the collars’ lives to report how long they lasted. Buy this collar – you won’t regret it!

So let me say first I have not been compensated in any way for this review, and I rarely take the time to write a review. Having said that, I felt this was so necessary because of our journey with our pups. Last year we moved to a new (old) home in a beautiful, but very wooded area. Our dogs have never ever had a flea or tick. We have 3. A basket that lives outside, and our girls who live inside. Well, we got fleas, and when I say we..I mean we. The dogs, the house, the yard. It was horrible. We treated, and treated and treated some more. Both professionally as well as every at home method out there. We spent thousands..yes thousands of dollars, and the poor dogs…oh my gosh. It was terrible. We battled for over 3 months even after the first hard freeze!I was so thankful when we finally won that battle! So, May rolls around and I saw these collars on Amazon. I was somewhat hesitant to buy because of the terrible reviews saying the collar had hurt the dogs, but I knew I would watch closely and take it off before it got bad, if it did.Bought the collars, placed them, and here we are October and I am not kidding when I say we have not had 1 single flea or tick on any of the dogs!! NOT 1!! We are customers for life! Now… as far as the negative side effects I see folks talking about. I cant say for sure what caused their trouble, but if you follow the instructions to a T, place the collar loosely, (it only needs to be in contact with the fur) and *make sure it is a authentic device and not fake. I’m sure your pet will be as happy and healthy as ours! I included pics of our very elderly lab, no trouble ( I watched for neurological)! And our poodle no trouble ( I watched for skin)!! …and our Bassett Bogey, well he’s just happy as a lark and outside rolling in the dirt right now🐕

My dog, Lucy, died within a couple of weeks after putting one of the collars on her. She had no medical problems. She was approximately 5 years old and a very healthy, active mixed breed. She had a sudden seizure and died on the way to the vets office, which isn’t over a mile away. With the number of dogs that have been reported dying or having adverse reactions to this collar please look for a safer alternative for flea and tick control. I never put this collar on my other for fear he might die also. I know this is after my return grace period but I would like to return this unopened does/tick collar.

Lots of critters coming and going through our backyard leaving their buggies. We have a Staffie and and English Mastiff, and they are magnets for the fleas and ticks that the rabbits, turkey, deer, raccoons, you name it leave on our property. Plus our cats hunt and bring all manner of rodents by to ‘pay the rent’ in their minds. For years I was exposing my poor dogs to flea dips, drops, expensive vet pills, yada yada. I was spending a fortune and having nervous breakdowns fighting these little monsters. Some friends recommended Soresto and life has been so much better. I always monitor my dogs for reaction no matter how long I have used a product, and ours have never had an issue with this collar. Only downsides: I’ve got a good 300 lbs of dog here between 2 critters: so neck circumference is definitely an issue. The collar only barely fits them. I wish Soresto made the collar for XL breeds. While these collars save me a lot of money in the long run, my Mastiff rolled around in the grass with this seventy dollar thing and lost it: which naturally–despite desperately looking–I only found with the mower. I understand they need to be breakaway for safety’s sake but we have to secure it to his other collar with a little tie strap. It’s a thing Soresto really needs to address. Otherwise I have used these collars on my dogs a few years now and they are fantastic: they will save you and your pet from going crazy. You do save a fortune, too, even if the initial outlay is financially ouchy. Because of this I do not use them on my indoor/outdoor cats: for them I use drops. They are tree climbers so no collar is safe for them, and even if the collar did break away I’d likely lose one a week. This management program between Soresto for the dogs and drops for the cats works with us over the humid Michigan summers. In winter treatment isn’t necessary and I like them to have a break for a few months from any chemical intervention. Maybe it last 8 months but I’d estimate closer to six. If your dog is a water dog (Mine are certainly not), you may want to take the collar off for that. Hope it helps.

The media could not be loaded. I was skeptical about this collar because of the price, It has been about a month since I put it on Buddy and I have not seen a flea or tick on him since, plus he had a bad case of red inflamed belly skin and constant ear scratching that has cleared up, probably caused by some kind of mite. He is very active, roaming all night on our acreage and swimming in the pond all the time. I was using topical drops, but they seemed to have no effect. Even it only lasts a couple of months instead of the claimed 8 months i would say it is worth the cost.

I can confirm this is a real Seresto collar and not a fake that will make your dog sick! See my photos for the difference. My girl is almost 6 years old and I’ve been using these for 4 years now! I’ve purchased two from this very seller in the last 2 years and they worked perfectly. I take my girl to the beach where she swims, I bathe her and she swims in a kiddie pool in my backyard. Even with all that the collar has continued to work though I replaced it sooner as per directions. I live in a wooded area in NY on Long Island where fleas and ticks are rampant and this collar hasn’t let me down. My vet still recommends it!

We have been using seresto collars on our 47lb short haired dog for three years now with amazing success. We live rural and our dog spends a *lot* of time off leash in the woods. Ticks are huge, horrible, problem here. Before these collars, I would pick so many ticks off the dog after being out – my record is 36 (and that’s literally after about 2hrs in the woods). We tried literally everything else: nexguard (vet prescribed pill) it did kill any ticks that bit her, but didn’t stop her bringing them into the house where I’d find them crawling up my damned walls. Essential oils, all sorts of natural powders, collars and oils. We were trying to avoid chemicals as we have children. However, this collar works. And it works perfectly. When it’s on her, she literally never has ticks. I will still occasionally find them on her bed very rarely, but they are *always* dead. And absolutely no ticks crawling about my house when she’s wearing this (without the collar I’ll usually find at least one lost tick a day wandering about on my floors). My dog has had zero reactions to the collar. I have it on her from late April/early May through November or December. And it works the entire time. And in the hotter months she spends a good deal of time swimming in the pond or the ocean, and the collar stays working. The single issue I’ve had is when I put the collar on as per the instructions, she is guaranteed to lose it – they come off when she’s out in the woods hunting (we learned this the hard way, losing two, which is bloody expensive). My solution here is to use elastic bands and attach the seresto collar to the inside of her regular dog collar. I used to sew it in but realised elastic bands work just as well and are less work. The added bonus having it on the inside of her collar also means kids are less likely to touch it.If you live somewhere where ticks are a real problem, I highly recommend this collar. It works, and, at this stage, that’s all I care about.

We ordered and received three collars. You will notice from the pictures that one container is a bit larger and the imaging has a different tint. Upon opening the packages, I found the two packages on the right to have the correct collar with the Bayer logo near the end loop. The larger container had a collar without the Bayer logo, which feels slimy and has a pungent odor of mint. This is clearly an imitation which could potentially harm your pets.

This is by far the best flea and tick deterrent I have used! And I have used them all! I have a 140lb Rottie and a 50lb lab mix and I used these for both. I get them in early spring and they last until fall. In fact when I took them off this year, after the first really cold weather, they were still keeping fleas and ticks away. We have used them twice so far and will get them again this spring. I have seen no irritation or adverse effects on either dogs. They are water proof as my pups swim a lot.The only thing is that my dogs play rough so I have to be sure they don’t yank them off each other so we fasten them with a zip tie and that works well. They are plenty big enough for my big boy and I have to cut excess off so I am sure it will fit a large neck. I highly recommend these!!
