I ordered this along with a Clarion unit for my Tahoe and the install was simple. Probably the easiest I have ever done. The Tahoe dash pops off, no tools, this dash kit is the exact same release tabs as the stock unit, AGAIN NO TOOLS, just press the tabs down and release the unit from the dash. Slide the new unit in with your aftermarket stereo until you feel and hear the tabs click locking it into place. You’re done. Put your dash panel back on. I had this installed in less than 5 minutes. It mounts flush just like the stock stereo was so it gives it a very nice clean look. I have had some dash kits protrude the stereo out an inch or so and that looked ridiculous. Not this one though…very nice for the price. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to install an aftermarket head unit in their vehicle.

I screwed my new head unit into the bezel and it slid right into the dash perfectly with no issues. I did not use the metal mounting bracket that comes with all head units. I just used the mounting holes on the side of the bezel to connect the head unit directly to it for stability and security.

The Alpine ilx-F409 does not use the metal sleeve that would normally be used for single din units. The ilx-F-409 uses screws only. This Dash Kit is perfect for that. No modifications needed to the dash kit.

This single Dinn kit fit my 2002 Tahoe perfectly. Couple of screws on each side to hold the radio in, and then it slides into place inside the dash. it was literally the easiest radio install I”ve ever done. Normally these screw into the dash, and you have to test fit and refit tons of times to get it to fit the bezel of the dash. this took 5 seconds. buy it!

I’ve installed probably 50-ish car stereos over the years, but I don’t do this every day. But wow was this an easy install in a borrowed ’99 Chevy truck. I borrowed a truck from a friend so I could go a couple of states away to pick up some furniture (my truck might make a mountain of power, but it gets atrocious mileage). The ’99 I borrowed only had a cassette player, though, and my phone’s headphone port doesn’t work well, so a cassette adapter was out. I had a spare  Kenwood KDC-X995  head unit laying around, so I mounted that into this adapter. I also pre-wired a  Metra 70-1858 Wiring Harness  to the head unit, and picked up a  Metra 40-GM10 GM Antenna Adapter . With the head unit mounted into the adapter and pre-wired, it took maybe 15 minutes to pop the trim off of the front of the dash, pull the old head unit out, plug the new one in, and pop things back together. It would’ve been quicker, but I got the 4WD connector in the wrong place when I snapped the dash back together the first time. But really – this required no tools to install. The wiring adapter just required a few minutes with some butt connectors to match the colors between the harness adapter and the head unit harness, and that’s it; this style of head unit just clicks in with a lever you can depress with your thumb. It’s super easy. It was so easy that it was totally worth the ~$20 I spent on the three adapters to use my aftermarket head unit during the trip (the bluetooth connection to my phone allowing GPS and music wirelessly is soooo nice). When I got back, I just pulled it all back out and put the stock head unit back in before returning the truck to the original owner. The cutout for the radio to set back into fit the Kenwood pretty closely; the thing comes with a spacer so you can mount a deeper radio or one with a bigger faceplate, and it’ll stick out about another half inch or so. I prefer the sunken look better, though.

Keep some additional mounting hardware on hand because your head unit’s included mounting hardware may not be long enough to secure it into this product. I had to halt my install and run to the parts store to buy M5x12mm (not super common, M6 and larger is often all you’ll find at many stores) bolts as well as some washers because my Kenwood KDC-X304 wasn’t wide enough to fit using its included hardware. This wouldn’t be a big deal if there were some warnings about potential incompatibility. I really didn’t expect to run into an issue like the one I did. Either way, product is good, but caused me a bit of frustration for sure.No complaints about the finish or quality.

This worked great on my 2000 Tahoe LT (New body style). It allows the head unit to be installed flush with the surface compared to other kits that leave the head unit sticking out. Very easy to install with nothing to assemble. It slid right into the radio housing area and duplicates the hardware attached to the factory stereo. It is removed just like the factory radio by pressing in a tab on each side and sliding it out.

At first glace I thought the plastic was not going to hold up on installation, but it did exceptionally well. it fit the factory hole pretty good, included was a filler trim ring, but i didnt need it. I used the pioneer deck trim ring. the whole unit slid in and clicked in pretty strong, just like factory. Great products, works as described.

VERY IMPORTANT: This Kit/Bracket will only hold a Car Stereo that is 7″ wide x 2″ High, with very wiggle room. This was very easy to install, bracket fits great in a 2002 GMC Yukon XL for and aftermarket single din Car Stereo. So check your stereo dimensions before ordering, stereo into dash depth depends on your vehicle. Bracket fits and locks into the Factory OEM mounting slide for the old 2 din OEM stereo housing and the trim covers the gap around the outside of a single din stereo.

I purchased this for a install on my 1999 Silverado 2500. The Dash pops right off, squeeze the tabs, radio pulls right out. I installed the new radio in this mount, nice recessed area around the radio, it didn’t fit the face plate that came with it but the one on the radio looked just fine. Popped right back in.I would say that this mount does not look as strong or stiff as the factory mount but either way it should be more than strong enough to hold up a radio. Looks like a factory install with the dash back on. It took more time to strip and connect wires than to slide the unit in and mount it in place. Wish it would work on my Ford.
