After getting ran through the Vet “prescription” food borderline fraudulent practices we decided to try this food. Our cat had urinary tract infections and crystals developing. The vet oversold us an expensive U/T food with a “prescription” label. PSA the word prescription in these foods are a marketing ploy with a manufacturer agreement with the stores and Vets to only sell the food with a Vet checkup. Basically the equivalent of buying a high end shampoo from a salon only scenario only with the fraudulent word “prescription” attached to it. I have no idea why the FDA lets them get away with this but they for some reason to feel the need to crack down on the almond industry for calling almond juice almond milk… like anyone was actually confused by this.Anyways with the leading prescription brand the crystals were even coming back. Since we have switched to this food the crystals have gone away and not came back.

Due to our cat having had 2 urinary tract infections within 6 months, and inability to obtain a urine sample at the follow up appt. to the second infection, it was recommended that our cat switch from the senior, indoor, turkey and rice formula to an adult urinary tract formula. We told the vet that we’d been using Pro Plan and she confirmed that this is a good cat food. We added this new formula to her prior Pro Plan food in increasing amounts for about two weeks. Our 19 lb. cat (not fat, just a big girl) had no problem switching Pro Plan formulas, so we are pleased. For the second vet’s appt. we had brought our cat in because of lack of bowel movement for 2 days. The vet (who could feel multiple little round feces) said that a cat with a urinary tract infection will often be uncomfortable or in pain when trying to pass feces and thus will not have the bowel movement. She recommended using a urinary tract food. As without the urine sample, it couldn’t be determined whether or not her infection had been cured, the vet gave her a 2nd long lasting antibiotic injection, in addition to stool softener medication. Our only concern is that the Pro Plan urinary tract formula doesn’t address hair balls. Since the repeat of the urinary tract infection is the greater concern, we decided to put her on and keep her on the Urinary Tract formula. Later my husband read on line that some vets recommend adding soft food/food with liquid to the diet to help reduce constipation, so we decided to try this also. We supplemented her dry food with a soft dinner with gravy, but giving the “meal” to her in 1/4 portions for 4 days of treats. As she’ll lick the gravy but refuse to eat the soft chunks, we puree one meal and gravy, give her 1/4 of it, and refrigerate the rest. We microwave the other portions before serving them, as the warmth is more appetizing and should help to relax muscles for easier passing of feces. She gobbles her “treat” up, even sitting by her dry cat food during the day, hoping to get more of the pureed stuff (which has duck in it), although she also likes the Pro Plan. Since the medicine, and diet change, our cat has been fine. We’ve been very satisfied with the Purina Pro Plan Urinary Tract formula cat food and previously had been quite pleased with the Pro Plan turkey and rice indoor formula for adult cats. Prior to using the Pro Plan we had used another brand that vets recommend and sell. I must say that our cat did (and does) much better on the Pro Plan than she did on that other name brand cat food. My only regret is not having switched to Pro Plan sooner.

Like many people who have bought this, my cat started showing signs of bladder problems. Very frequent trips to the litter box (sometimes five or six times an hour), spending a long time in the litter box, and only showing very small patches of urine output. I occasionally saw what looked like a tinge of blood in his urine. He didn’t seem distressed, but I wanted to get ahead of the problem. So I bought this and a supplement formulated for urinary tract health (UroMAXX Urinary Tract, Kidney & Bladder Formula). Because I’ve used both, I’m not sure if it was this, the supplement, or both that has helped, but after just five days, he’s markedly improved. I’ll give credit to both.He now goes to the box once or twice a day. Instead of dime sized spots, I now see something more like the size of a golf ball or lemon. None of them show signs of blood anymore. He’s also become more active and playful. So this is a product I’ll definitely endorse and continue to use. This was impressive.

My fur-baby seems to like this food – Purina Pro Plan Dry Cat Food (Focus Adult Urinary Tract Health Chicken & Rice Formula). He was having urinary problems resulting in not only peeing everywhere, which was not normal, but then he started pretending to pee places, and nothing would come out :( The result from the vet was that he was having problems with UTI and crystal formation – poor little guy! The vet recommended this specific food along with the same brand of wet food. He eats both right up! I will continue to to feed him this food unless anything changes.

After years of buying prescription cat food due to my cat having urinary stones, I decided to try this and see what happened. I have been using for 3 months now and it was worked out great! My cat loves the food and we have had no urinary issues. Not to mention it saves me about $30.00 per bag.

I’ve been using Wysong Uretic (5lbs for $26) but after problems with shipping time and fluctuating price I decided to try Purina Pro. (7lbs for $16).I’m amazed how much my 2 cats love it. Theses guys do not like me messing with their food. I mixed the two brands to help them with the change over and they started picking around and just eating the Purina and leaving the wysong in the bowl.Purina Pro Plan Dry Cat Food, Focus, Adult Urinary Tract Health Is a great product, plus you get more for less money.Highly recommended

My last cat suffered from UT issues in the last part of her life. We spent big money at the vet for antibiotics, I.V. flushes and all kinds of other “treatments”. Although she had a long life, dying at 18, I really think if I would have known about this food she would still be here. Within a year of getting our new cat, he started suffering from the same UT issues. After spending a couple of hundred at the vet, FINALLY, they suggested Purina Pro Plan UT food. It has been a miracle. We signed up for the automatic delivery every 2 months and adjust it when he needs more or less. We feed Vereen the dry food version and he absolutely loves it. He can have a full bowl sitting and if the Amazon delivery comes he will try and rip open the new bag! I still feed him wet food a few times a week, I give him one of those Sheba perfect portions and fill the container up with equal parts of water and mix. I try to get him as much water as possible. I do this with the tiny cans of the Beyond wet food also. The cost of this Purina UT health food is a little steeper than an average bag of Meow Mix, but those cheap foods are what makes them make crystals. And believe me, I tried the highest priced brands of cat food, Rachel Ray, Blue Buffalo, etc… This is the only one that stopped the problem. I’d rather spend a little more money and keep him out of pain, and possibly extend his life. It has been over a year and he’s very healthy. If your cat is “peeing” all over your house, they are really trying to pass crystals that have formed, much like humans who suffer from Kidney Stones. You have an overwhelming need to push them out and it’s very painful. You may see blood where they tinkle. They associate pain with their litter box because of this and will avoid it if they can, that’s why they will try and push these out in other places around the house. If your cat is experiencing any of this, I am now convinced it’s the food that’s causing it. Vereen has been my guinea pig and the results have been wonderful!

My cat had a UTI and it caused crystals to build up in his blatter. His name is Tikki and he is the man. One day I had to rush him to the emergency room because he was howling loudly and crying, running and hiding away from me when i tried to look at him to see what was wrong. It was traumatizing I felt so bad. Turns out it was the UTI / crystals that had been preventing him from urinating properly. It cost me 500 bucks and prescription food with low ph etc.. When that food ran out I couldnt get more, looked for an in store alternative. I found this here on Amazon and gave it a try. He hasnt has the issue in over a year (it was only that once that it happened). This seems to work for him and he has been peeing regularly.

My cat always ate just the cheap Meow Mix for years, trying to do better for my cat I bought him Blue Buffalo dry food, and after just a few months on that he had to have surgery to clear out the crystals that it had created in his stomach, thousands of dollars in vet bills and several days in the vet hospital is what that decision cost me, and he almost died. After seeing all of the other reviews saying the same thing I cannot believe that they are even allowed to still sell Blue Buffalo cat food. The vet suggested to find a urinary tract food, the prescription food was just so expensive and didn’t seem much different than this food from Purina, so we decided to give this a try because of the good reviews. At first my cat didn’t take to this food as well but after just a week or two he began to eat it just as happily as he always had any other food. I can’t speak to if it is helping his issues, but after 6 months so far he hasn’t had any other trouble. I buy the 16 pound bag and it lasts several months, Amazon is the best price I can find, and comes to the house in just 2 days with Prime shipping. Stick with Purina!
