The bottom line on this, IMHO, is that it is a good starter 4K disc player with very good upscaling of blu ray and DVD, especially blu ray. It is not a $1000 4K disc player. It is not a $500 disc player.Regarding compatibility with a 4K TV, I can only speak about my experience with my large QLED samsung TV. I had trouble with dark scenes looking good through this player, even after using the Disney blu ray calibration disc. Otherwise, Ready Player One 4k looks great. Guardians of the Galaxy blu ray is superb. Star Wars Episode V DVD upscales very, very nicely. But every dark scene in my setup just looks so muted. This player seemed to do fine with sending Atmos and 5.1 surround sound tracks to my sound system, so no complaints from my ears, but perhaps there is more out there.I suspect this player with some TVs will simply be spectacular. With others, maybe not so great. At a price of about $100 (I paid a little over this), it can get you going.I have owned mine for roughly one year, and I have concluded I need to try another player. The mid range Panasonic just went on sale, so I will try that one. I will have to update my review in a month or so with comparison notes.—————UpdateI stand by my statement that this is an excellent starting 4K disc player, and still think this will perform awesome with some TVs.I will now compare to the Panasonic UB820. The Panasonic wins on HDR features. Easily adjusts my picture brightness, noticeably so, and that made me super happy (see above comments). The LG wins on audio setup with my equipment, using a Samsung atmos soundbar and no receiver. The less expensive LG for whatever reason could pass atmos and picture flawlessly through the ARC and back. With the Panasonic, I went through many iterations of setup before compromising on optical audio between the QLED TV and soundbar & having confirmed atmos on a direct HDMI from the disc player to the soundbar. I had to have atmos from the discs, and having the picture and sound together is just so enjoyable. 5.1 Dolby digital from other sources (Roku, antenna, gaming) was acceptable to me.Netflix is available on both disc players and both have better Netflix picture and audio than through my Roku Premiere (all equally connected by ethernet), but my Roku remains my go-to streamer.

LG got it right, at last. This model works with 4k high definition blu rays and Atmos sound. The disk doesn’t make any noise and the player works. Thanks LG.

This thing works really good if you just want to use it to play your movies straight from your hard drive it can play my 5 terabytes 2 terrabytes hard drive with many digital movies on it without problem i don’t even used for youtube or Netflix .

This player was purchased for the UHD Dolby Vision capabilities. It does everything it said it would do. It plays 4K UHD disks with Dolby Vision or HDR10, and plays them well. It also upscales Blu Rays very well.

Very happy with this 4K player AFTER I got the right hdmi cable. I had tried multiple cables even ones that were supposed to be rated 4K compliant. Figured I’d give it one more try and bought this cable https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CLUXVB6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Worked perfectly.Lesson? If you buy a 4K player, be forewarned that your current hdmi cables might not work. The symptom I kept running into was that it would play dvds and blu rays perfectly but if I inserted a 4K dvd my TV would turn on HDR and the screen would go black. Hope this helps

One of the big questions is what’s the difference between UBK90 and UBKC90, which is sold in one of the large warehouse stores that begins with “C.” They are the same. I made calls to LG and the large warehouse store and were told they are identical. I also downloaded the owner’s manual with specs and the manuals are identical. I purchased the UBKC90 and above the serial number is the date of manufacture, which was April 2018. So the UBKC90 is NOT last years model and identical to the UBK90. You can go to the LG web site and compare both models and call them to confirm. Happy shopping.

I bought this device to replace a Samsung DVD Player that died after 6 years. The new LG device was easy to install and has given me and my family excellent service in every respect. I would purchase this model again in a heartbeat.
