The media could not be loaded. I really appreciate the packaging of this kit, it comes in a kind of suitcase with all parts packed in a drawstring suede bag.Setting the kit was easy and I was so thrilled to see the colors it displays💃I downloaded the app and paired the lights, it was a bit tricky. After I turned all 3 lights on, I set all to the same channel number eg. *CH 7* and one of the light was set to *APP and the other 2 lights “Slave”To do this press *mode*Then if using 2 lights, I set one light to “APP” and the other to *Slave*To connect to the app hit the connection button to the right, you will find BT_LED Tap on it to connect doesn’t matter if you find all 3 light or 2 to connect. It will automatically connect to all. Just play with the app to change light color and all.For each time I turn it off & unplug from the wall as I don’t like to leave it plugged when not in use, I do this connection. It’s easy when you do it a couple times.Days after, I tried to turn it on and one of the light had a blank screen I reached out to the customer service and they were kind enough to send me a replacement for one of the light.Overall, brightness is excellent and it’s of great quality.I highly recommend this light kit to anyone into filming or photography you will love it.See video for help.

This light set is good for lighting people or any set up, but they are extremely good for adding more balanced and pleasing light to faces, products, or anything close-up.The lights come with plastic diffuser panels already installed and the barn doors are nice to have and they have just the right amount of resistance out of the box.The stands are spring-dampened. That means that as you lower them, loaded or unloaded, they don’t stop with a jolt. This protects your equipment and the stand itself. Spring or air dampening is the mark of better stands.I can confirm that these easily exceeded my expectations on performance, convenience, and value.

It’s a great product. I use it everyday. There’s a learning curve but it’s a short one. I would buy it again. If you are a content creator you need this. I create content on YouTube and this is absolutely a integral part of my creation pipeline.

I used to work as an engineer in the utility field and had a service issue with a photographers studio. I saw how he made some impressive award winning picture for various ads as well as just typical family portraits. This was in the mid 1990’s, he had these big heavy lights, mirror screens, and color filters to change the intensity or colors. I asked him what these cost and he wouldn’t be specific but he said thousands. I figured the cost of a business, probably par for the course. Almost all of those functions and probably more would be doable, easier with these.I’m not sure a professional film maker would use this set, but it’s probably good enough for many smaller sets. A photographer would love this, especially how portable the set is. Say doing a wedding or something you’d normally need a truck load of stuff to set up in advance. This could be set up in less than an hour. I’m using it for both party lighting, and I’ll have a really special scene in my three picture windows on my front porch Halloween display (assuming the covid thing doesn’t cancel it this year). The app is clunky so I decided to go with the controls they have on the back. Easy to tune once you look at how things work and play with the modes and such. An impressive lighting system in an inexpensive well designed package. LED’s have been around for decades I wonder why it took so long to start using the energy efficient and durable technology till now. Recommended.

GVM has really stepped up their game with their latest release of light panels. The 680RS are some truly impressive light panels considering the price for this 3 light kit.It makes sense to talk about the differences I see in this most recently released lights from GVM compared to their previous versions and one of the biggest is how you control them. It used to be you had to connect the mobile app via wifi. This was a big problem because that meant you could not use your phone for other things like browsing the Internet. Also connecting to the lights with the app was a convoluted process that took a while to complete. Now you connect to the lights via bluetooth. You can now freely use your phone for other things like Internet browsing while connected to the lights. The lights connect to the app much MUCH quicker as well and is a far simpler process. Speaking of the app, they have changed that as well. It’s the GVM II app. The app is well thought out and very simple to use.The case seems to have changed a bit as well in my opinion. The case feels stronger and more beefy. The handle has a rubberized grips well. I feel more confident carrying the lights around in this case.Another improvement I have noticed is in the RGB mode. On their older lights when you set them to very low power, like 1-5%, the color change would be very sudden and abrupt. Instead of the normal subtle color grades they would jump to solid red to solid blue to solid yellow and so on. With these newer lights you get those subtle color changes, shades of yellow, blue and red and so on even when at low power.A big benefit to these light panels is that there are no fans. The lights simply dissipate heat through the metal body of the lights themselves. No fans means no noise making these ideal for things like interview shoots or even talking head YouTube videos.Using 3 lights at the same time can be tricky. It seems GVM had this in mind and have included a master/slave mode. Simply setup one light as master and the other 2 as slave. Whatever settings you set the master light to, the slave lights will will match it automatically. Not only that but they actually change to those settings very quickly so there is very little delay. The light stands are your usual budget stands you see in these light kits. I will say the main base tube does seem a little thicker. So while these stands won’t be overly impressive they are more than strong enough to handle these light weight lights. Each light panel produces about 50w of power depending on the color you have it set at. CCT mode does seem a bit brighter than the RGB modes. Using 3 of them together on a triple header like you see in my review pictures will produce a ton of light. if you want softer light simply put one of those large 5 in 1 reflectors in front of them. You will have plenty of light and then some for a super bright key light. Or use the kit as a 3 point lighting setup; key, fill and hair/kicker light for example. Each light panel also includes a thin diffused panel that is easily removed. If you want to maximize the light output simply slide out the diffuser. Personally I would leave them in because while they really don’t necessarily diffuse the light much to make them softer, they do blend the LED chip’s light output so you can avoid some of the odd shadows you can get with LED panels like this.Of course you get 3 power adapters with this kit to power all the lights. You can also power the lights with NP-F batteries which are not included. It’s rare than any of these panels kits, not just from GVM, come with batteries but these NP-F batteries are pretty cheap. Do note you will need 2 batteries per panels as the panels won’t run with just a single battery.GVM has put a lot of upgrades in their new light panels. Fir the price you are getting a ton of value. Nice bright panels with a lot of light output, very accurate color and great mobile app support. I’m more than happy to recommend.

A few years ago, if you’d told me I could do a high-quality three-point lighting set-up with no electricity whatsoever, I’d have been very skeptical. But here we are now. And it’s not just possible, it’s easy and fun. These three GVM lights let you do just that, plus plenty more. I’m setting up the three lights using NP batteries (purchased separately) and they work great. Key light … fill light … back light — these three lights, and their included stands, are excellent for that purpose. You can easily adjust the brightness, and the color temperature, of each light independently. And as other reviewers have noted, you also can set one of the lights as “master” and the other two as “slaves,” and use the GVM app on your phone to set them up. I’ve used the app some, and it worked fine. The colored light function is a whole other feature that I’ll be delving into at some point. Right now, I’m just delighted to have these for three-point lighting. They put out plenty of light, they’re well made and the battery option is a huge plus.

These lights are amazing. I run a four hour program online, and the lights are on the entire time ON BATTERY. As a matter of fact, they have done well for me for over five hours straight. My skin tone is always perfect as I can adjust every aspect of the lighting. I take them on the road and regardless of where I am, they create a beautiful atmosphere.
