Received the ice maker today. Quick set-up, added water and it’s already making ice! This is a wonderful alternative to an ice maker in your refrigerator. We have an older refrigerator and have used ice cube trays for years—I’m tired of filling up trays—lol! This machine sits on our counter right beside the refrigerator. I’m very pleased!

Bought this because my ice maker in my freezer broke. My choices were call a repairman, buy the parts and try and fix it myself, buy a new fridge or buy a stand alone ice maker. This was the cheapest and easiest of my choices, so imagine my surprise when not only was this a great solution, easy to use and I fill it with water from my Britta so the ice tastes great. I had to buy an ice pick with it, because the ice tends to clump together when I put it in the freezer and the basket that comes with it doesn’t hold a whole lot, but overall it is easy, fast and makes great ice.

My $3000 Samsung refrigerators ice maker quit after 3 years and not cost effective to fix, was buying bagged ice 3 times a week, we use ice constantly in our drinks here in the south. This ice maker is worth its gold, 3 friends have already bought them one. I now keep my ice dispenser full and when we have people over I just keep this one running and never run out of ice when tray gets full I move ice to freezer, during the week I only have to run it every other day!

This may be the best thing I have bought this year. It is quick and quiet except when the bullets fall and I am usually waiting so it isnt bad at all. It isnt refrigerated but it does keep itself cold longer than i would have imagined. but as it melts it drips back into the reserve and just makes more ice. I am very glad i got this. i have already drank more water than i use to because of it not to mention it cut out the having to remember to bring ice home and the taste it gets when it sets too long in your freezer.

Everything works good. Don’t make a lot of noise. The only thing I didn’t like is that the ice cubes are very small and melt in your glass real fast. It would be good to have a choice on ice cube size.

It’s been hot as blazes here and my freezer wasn’t freezing the water in the ice trays fast enough. When I saw this on Prime Day I thought I’d give it a try. Well, this little machine has already made lots of ice and it’s still chugging away. It was ready to go from opening the box. Just follow the directions and don’t fill the water up above the line, close the top, and the machine gets going. I rinsed off the ice basket first of course and took a damp rag and wiped down the water area, but it looked sparkling clean before I did that. Cons: the best deal was for the red color (with black top) and I don’t particularly love red, but who cares? I don’t stare at the thing all day. Another con is that it’s just my spouse and I. For a large family you might either let it run all night and day or get a bigger machine. We let our machine run for four hours this morning and that was plenty of ice for us for the whole day. Oh, and one important point, when you set the machine on the counter for the first time, let it sit there at least two hours so that the machine oil or whatever is inside the working parts can settle down. It will tell you that in the directions but it’s worth underscoring the importance of doing that, especially if your machine arrived upside down like ours did.

This Frigidaire portable ice maker exceeds my expectations. The ice maker in my home refrigerator stopped working. Called about repairing the unit and was told the parts came from China and weren’t available right now. I opted for this Frigidaire portable model to replace the ice maker. I love to watch the mechanism work. It is a marvelous invention. Makes beautiful round ice cubes in only a few minutes; then you put them in your drink or bag and freeze the cubes for later use. That works for me because the ice will be much colder and last longer in the drink. The instructions say “Do not use distilled water.” I only use distilled water to keep the deposits off the freeze tubes. It has never failed and the ice is great.

Love it, love it, love it. This has been a blessing. I love ice in my drinks. This puts out the ice fast, and 2 different sizes. Easy to use. A little noisy at 1st turning on and it dropping ice in basket, but then quiet for rest. Great value.

There are many brands available, all presumably of the same design. We bought one of the first all-white Frigidaire ones, used it every day for 2 years and wore it out… it ran non-stop! It finally stopped all together. We purchased this copper colored Frigidaire unit and we notice it is quieter and makes ice faster than the first model. There have definitely been design improvements. This unit keeps up with the rate we drink ice water, which is pretty much constantly. The unit has two speed settings. The faster setting makes a softer chewable ice which my wife prefers. I’m indifferent to that, but we both love the hollow shape of the ice (tubes, not cubes) because the increased surface area chills a drink faster. We also like the ease of walking over to the countertop unit to add ice to the sane glass periodically. It’s effortless. The ice is just as fresh as the water you use, because there are no refrigerated food odors absorbed into the standing ice.The unit will accumulate residue over time and it does require cleaning which can be difficult unless you buy a long handled brush to reach inside and clean the mechanism.All-in-all, we are totally happy with this ice maker… and the copper color is attractive to boot!

The ice-maker has a water level sensor to monitor filling the mechanically-actuated tray that holds water on the chiller fingers, apparently it senses the water through the water’s electrical conductivity. Distilled water is a poor conductor compared to regular drinking water, so a tray overflow won’t be detected reliably on distilled water, the tray-filling pump will time out, and consequently a low water error light on the panel will be triggered, stopping the machine.
