This has been a great, comprehensive set of basic tools. You could get this as a starter set for someone who needs to jump from zero tools to a solid set quickly, or if (like me) you need a reliable set to supplement an older set that has been cut down by your kids borrowing and misplacing key pieces.

This kit is a nice kit to have at home for around-the-house tasks. Relatively comprehensive kit, not too big, not too heavy, nice tools. Actual hammer, real socket set.The storage case is decent, actual hinge, actual clips to close things. The pliers and channel-locks don’t stay clipped very well, but aside from that, it’s good.I am not a huge fan of the screwdriver arrangement with changeable tips, but in this case that’s better than lugging around a bunch of individual screwdrivers.High quality Craftsman tools. The worst thing ever is to have to repair something broken with crappy tools. With this kit I at least show up tools I can trust. I bust a knuckle, it’s my fault, not the tools.

I wanted to get my son a small set that he could start off with. Now anytime we do something and he needs more after he sees what I use, if it’s an item that would get used often, we’ll buy him one to put into his bag as well. It’s a good way to get them interested in tools and learning to fix things themselves. It’s not something that’s taught much at all these days and he will be way ahead of the learning curve when it comes time to either fix things, figure out how things work so he can be better prepared with the knowledge that he isn’t getting hosed or screwed when and if he were to take something somewhere to be fixed.

Good: I actually bought this as a car toolkit, since it includes what is imho a critical roadside tool missing from almost all car kits: a hammer! Also has a decent selection of wrenches, screwdrivers, and other tools you’ll probably need away from home. Despite “made in China” everything in the kit is still old-school Craftsman quality; the warranty is hard to beat.Bad: The blow-molded case lives up to its reputation as documented in several other reviews here; several tools fell out of the top the first time I opened it, and most would not stay in place long enough to get it closed again. Plus, the case is way too big to fit in any of the cubbyholes in my Jeep. I found a little Craftsman-brand canvas bag on Amazon that holds all of these tools with lots of room for more, and tucks nicely under the cargo-area floor. Recommended. Also, I would have much preferred laser-etched markings on the sockets; odds are if I need to use these I won’t have reading glasses handy. At least the stamped markings are oversized.Bottom line: It’s hard to go wrong with Craftsman. They do need to work on packaging for this set, however. Five stars, but the lame case almost cost it that fifth.

For a long time, my tools were limited to the random items I’d buy here and there as needed. Once I decided to make my most recent move, however, I knew it was time to change that for the better. I left all of my previous tools to my old roommate and ordered this set. I love the case that everything comes in, and the quality of both the tools and the case is exactly what I’d expect from a Craftsman set such as this. Not only am I now prepared for a majority of situations I might face in an apartment setting, but all of my tools finally match and I have a dedicated storage space for all of them. If this is all you’re looking for in a small tool set, then I cannot recommend this one enough!

For a girl like myself that had never owned any tools…this took box is perfect bc you get the basic stuff you need to fix things around the house.

I had a tool bag in the house, but all my tools were disappearing, and when I needed them they were nowhere to be found. So I went out and bought myself a toolbox for the garage and all the tools in the tool bag were properly stored, never to disappear again. But the wife and kids still needed something for inside for light household chores like hanging up pictures are putting together a small piece of furniture, so I stumbled upon this. Perfect little set with just the right amount of tools, everything goes in its place, and it’s small enough to store under a sink or in a cabinet (hall tree, front closet). Perfect set for your entry level Homeowner.

I’ve used a few of the tools now. We bought this set for the church so we’d have some basic tools again for everyday repairs. Most of the tools stay in place most of the time. The few tools I’ve used so far seem like still good tools. My first set of tools I got with paper route money in the 70’s and still have them.

My daughter needed a basic toolkit for her college apartment, & I made the mistake of buying one of the cheap, generic sets to save money. When it arrived, the quality was so obviously poor that I immediately returned it & ordered this Craftsman set. It’s not perfect. The box is a bit stiff & the slide-locks seem somewhat flimsy. Several of the tools fall out of their slots when I close the kit. The tools themselves are well constructed & look sufficiently durable though, which is what matters most to us

I wanted a tool set to keep inside my house and chose this set. Some people complain that the tools don’t stay in place, but I have found you have to press some of them firmly to get them to snap into place so they will stay. I find the selection to be suitable for my needs and like having them organized and all in one place in the carrying case. Recommend this product.
